Ron “Rockin’ Mlungu” Keschner
Ron Keschner, AKA the Rockin’ Mlungu, the legendary South African Blues, Rock and everything-in-between aficionado has been bringing his incredible passion for music to audiences both in South Africa and around the globe since his first pirate station at the age of just 16.
With the focus on mainly Blues and Blues Rock classics, the Rockin’ Mlungu’s stomping ground is the music of the African slaves and their descendants and with content made up of 50% of the finest music your ears have ever been exposed to and 50% chat about the history of the artists, songs, lyrics and listener stories, massive audience participation is always the centre of attraction. His army of listeners around the world know very well the key reason they stay so loyal and follow the show week in, week out and regularly send him their opinions and life stories, is that the Blues is the most honest form of music on the planet, stirring up emotions many of us never knew we had.
When asked how he would like to be remembered, Ron says “I would like nothing more than to be thought of as the mlungu who brought one of our own (most important) music forms – the BLUES – back from America and the rest of the world – to Africa, the natural home where it belongs.”
His final word is “the Blues is the music of the slaves, the music that rose from the prisons and the chain gangs of beautiful African people who’s only hope was hope itself. And my hope for you is that their music and their life stories inspire you all to great things in your own lives”.
The Rockin’ Mlungu’s College of Musical Knowledge runs every Sunday eve from 6 to to 8pm on the legendary Urban Edge Radio
